RINCON, Ga. — OpenAI plans to build a $20 billion, 1,400-acre data center campus in Effingham County, a project county leaders say could eliminate county homestead property taxes, create up to 1,000 permanent jobs and become one of the largest private economic development investments in coastal Georgia history.
